Can we get a drum roll? We are so pleased to announce that 1757 pairs of socks & 1038 pairs of underwear were collected during the Socks & Undies drive. This number will only go up in coming days too as stragglers come in. VERY well done!! Here is a 30-second thank-you clip from the Liaison for Homeless Services.

No matter what role you played in this drive, we sincerely thank you for all you did. This is a grassroots volunteer effort, so it’s all about getting the word out there and being intentional about supporting homeless students in such practical ways. A huge thank you also to our drop-off locations. We could not have done this without you. You were truly the backbone of this drive.

We just had a photo emailed to us that we wanted to share. This sweet 4-year old Folsom girl is donating new Disney Princess and Star Wars undies to homeless students to the Socks & Undies drive. This is just great. Major thanks to this young Project 680 team member AND her parents who are intentionally helping her hone an outward focus.

Thank you everyone for your generosity. Every bit helps. When individuals, families, churches and businesses step up to the plate to own the vision to care for homeless students in practical ways, good things happen. Clearly.

We’ve added a finale event next Tuesday on April 30th from 5-7pm at the Starbucks on Zinfandel in Rancho Cordova. This will be perfect for anyone to come by for a few minutes, drop off any donations or simply hang out for a bit. We’d love to see you there. Can you drop in?

This 9-year old girl used some of her birthday money to support the Socks & Undies drive. Her family has a goal to collect 100 items, so she’s doing her part to meet that goal. Truly inspiring. Thank you.

Remember, we have until the last day of April to collect 1000 pairs of socks and 1000 pairs of underwear for homeless students in the Folsom Cordova School District. Throughout this month, may we all have a childlike love like this sweet 9-year old girl. May we simply pay attention to needs around us and find ways to respond.

Everyone, we are excited to announce the Socks & Undies Drive that’s going to kick off in the month of April. Our goal is to collect 1000 pairs of new undies and 1000 pairs of new socks (see below for sizes). Do you think we can do it?

Together we can make a difference in the lives of homeless students in our community. Not only will new underwear and socks meet a very relevant and practical need, but it will also speak volumes to students about how the community is looking out for them. We mentioned a few days ago that we’d have “Undies Ride” t-shirts for those interested. Well, a handful of riders ordered them and here is what they look like. You can still get one if you’d like, but it’ll have to wait until after the bike ride since our shirt contact cannot make any more on such last-minute notice. If we do a community ride again, we’ll see if we can have more advance notice for a shirt since it’s a nice touch. Whatever the case, check it out below. Cool, huh? We are so thankful for the California Department of Education for their support of Project 680 in the past and also during the current Underwear Drive. Thank you to Debbie who got things started by telling others in her office building about Project 680. All in all, 73 packages (not just pairs) of underwear were collected along with some financial contributions. Thank you employees of the California Department of Education.  You are a huge blessing to students!! Thank you so much for truly caring!! There will be students wearing new underwear because of you, which means students will be more readily equipped to focus on learning.

Facebook birthdays are always nice because of all the love you get in your inbox. But what if you could take some of that love and direct it toward a good cause? Is that even possible? Our friend Scott Eggert logged in to his account this morning and posted at the crack of dawn before the birthday avalanche began. What did Scott say? Scott announced his birthday and also invited friends to purchase underwear for the Project 680 Underwear Drive. Pretty cool stuff, Scott. We love it. And since Scott posted publicly and his company tweeted about it, it was free game to share here. 

Anyone want to buy Scott some undies for this birthday? I’m game for 10 pairs (this is Ryan here).

We’ve been really busy, so it’s been hard to update the blog much. That doesn’t mean we’re not thankful though. We wanted to give a quick shout-out to Fairfield Inn & Suites in Rancho Cordova. They’ve been a huge partner this time around for the underwear drive. Not only have they been advertising the undies drive to their guests and staff, they’ve been doing a broadcast storm on their Facebook page. They even had a “biking for undies” shirt designed for their riders (we are having a community bike ride on Saturday for those who don’t know). Big thanks Fairfield Inn & Suites! Thank you for doing something about local issues.

Hi Everyone. The underwear drive is zooming by and we only have two weeks left. It’s not too late to get involved. Let’s make one last final push to really engage our networks and collect some new underwear for homeless students. On the last day of the underwear drive we’ll be doing a community bike ride called the “Undies Ride”.
