Eat dinner @ Mama Sue’s on 12/20 to benefit Project 680

What are you doing on Tuesday, December 20th between 5-9pm? Let’s eat some dinner together at Mama Sue’s Soul Food Kitchen in Rancho Cordova. Get some good grub and know that Mama Sue’s will be donating 25% of its dinner proceeds between 5-9pm to Project 680. Thank you to Aaron Redelsperger and youth from the Cordova Church of Christ who initiated this dinner. They’ve been working hard all month “elfing” to raise money for Project 680.

You coming? Let’s get our grub on.

Thank you letters from students (listen)

These are some thank you letters from students who received new shoes from the Project 680 Foot Drive recently. These students are documented as homeless by the FCUSD. Thank you everyone for your support and for making this happen. A very special thank you to Rancho Cordova Rotary for providing $4,000 toward the shoe drive. This year we provided more shoes for students than ever before.

Rancho Cordova Rotary Donates $4,000 to Shoe Drive

The Rancho Cordova Rotary Club donated $4,000 toward the Project 680 Shoe Drive this year. Additionally, the Inner Wheel Club in Rancho Cordova stepped up with a $400 donation too (Inner Wheel is comprised of allstar women of Rotary). We are so appreciative to have had such such support from Rotary and Inner Wheel. Along with the donations from so many others during the Foot Drive, we broke the record for the number of students invited to the Shoe Event. Thank you to Rotary President Rick Blakeman and so many Rotarians who donated money as well as volunteered hours of service to pull off a successful shoe event recently.

Do you want to get elfed for Project 680?

We are elated to hear that Cordova Church of Christ is doing “elfing” again this year to help raise money for Project 680.

What is elfing you ask? From the church website, “You pay $20 and we put 20 red and green elf balloons in someone’s yard along with a sign that lets them know you are responsible for getting them elfed! How do I arrange an elfing? You can either…1. Click this link and fill out the ONLINE elf appointment form. Bring or mail the $$ to 10577 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova CA 95670. Make checks out to Cordova Church of Christ.  Print out the HARD COPY Elf Appointment Form, fill it out, and bring it and the $$ to Aaron Redelsperger at Cordova Church of Christ. Or mail it to…10577 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova CA 95670. Make checks out to Cordova Church of Christ.”

Last year we had no clue that teens from Cordova Church of Christ had been elfing. They simply showed up and basically said, “by the way, we raised $1,395 for Project 680 by elfing”. It was such a shocker, but an incredible one. We are so grateful for the teens, youth group leadership, Aaron & Amy, and church and community members who are getting elfed for a great cause.

Thank you. We feel so blessed.

Final Foot Drive Results!!!

Life has been a whirlwind as we’ve been prepping for the Shoe Drive this month (because of everyone’s generosity in previous months), but we wanted to finally sit down to take a moment to say THANK YOU to so many who made the Project 680 Foot Drive a success. In all, we collected 2,841 pairs of new socks, $850 in cash/checks and $450 in Payless Shoe Cards. On top of all of this, Rancho Cordova Rotary ended up donating $4,000 toward the Shoe Drive and Inner Wheel in Rancho Cordova was responsible for $400 out of the $850 cash/checks.

What does all this mean? Essentially, we will be able to invite more documented homeless students to the shoe event this year than ever before. The record has been broken this year and that is a wonderful thing. On top of a private shoe event for homeless students in Rancho Cordova and Folsom, we’ll have resources and funds available to help students in coming months ahead.

Thank you for listening and then responding to an important local issue…. student homelessness. Your generosity will go a long way to take care of some of the basic needs that students have.

NOTE: We tried hard to get everyone on the list. If we accidentally forgot your name or misspelled your name, please lend us mercy and let us know so we can add you (please let us know). Also, there are so many anonymous donors. We really don’t know everyone who has been involved.
